“Swedish Ivy on Blue"” (acrylic on paper, 2022)
Swedish Ivy plants are lately some of my favorites, and they seem to thrive wherever I put them. Either flourishing in a sunny window, or growing and trailing down the shelves of my moody home office. Their leaves are so vibrant and full of life, and I wanted to capture that energy in this painting. This is a small painting, and I leaned in to the textures to give a sense of this plant growing and trailing below. The background is blue and stormy, with just enough shadow under the plant to give a sense of depth. This painting is one of my favorites - I love how despite its tiny size, it has so much energy and is such a happy little moment, just like real swedish ivy.
